WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
For the undergraduate fellowship, we will accept applications from rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or recent graduates. For the graduate fellowship, we will accept applications from students at all levels of their studies. We welcome applications from any major field of study and from a wide variety of extracurricular and professional backgrounds; US citizenship required.
WHO IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE?
We are looking for young Iranian-American change-makers with a demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of others. The selection committee will also consider the following criteria when evaluating applicants: record of academic achievement; passion, vitality and initiative; leadership potential and ability to influence and mobilize others to action.
WHAT ARE THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS?
Required materials include a resume, transcripts, short answer questions, an essay, and 2 letters of recommendation. The application will be due on Monday, May 6. Most importantly, the applicant will need to have secured an internship (unpaid) by the time the application is due and demonstrate proof of this. For those applicants still waiting to hear back at the time of the application deadline, exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF THE SELECTED FELLOWS?
Selected fellows will be asked to write at least two blog posts highlighting their experiences and takeaways from the fellowship. In addition, fellows will be invited and encouraged to participate in relevant leadership training and opportunities.
WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?
The selection process for the Ansari Fellowship Program will be highly competitive. Following the May 2019 deadline, the selection committee will review all applications and rank candidates based on a set of predetermined criteria. Candidates will be notified of the decision by mid-May.
